In the interest of full disclosure, I did receive this product at a discounted price in return for my honest and unbiased review of it. Although my kids are grown and no longer need crib mobiles, they still got so excited when this mobile came in the mail. They were definitely disappointed when I told them that it was for a friend who was having a baby. I asked my boys what they liked about the mobile. They mentioned the "totally awesome" shapes of the animals. They also said that they would love to be able to put the mobile up in their room and use hooks to affix the animals to the main piece so that they could play with the animals then re-hook them to the main piece for storage. I have to say that I am quite impressed with this idea. Looks like I will be buying another set for my house! The wood is sturdy and would not be easily broken. I have a friend whose style goes with this perfectly and I couldn't wait for it to arrive. The picture doesn't do this mobile justice as it is so beautiful in person. The wood is smooth with visible grains, and the animals are designed so beautifully. I was so impressed with the look of it that I decided to keep this for myself, and order another as a baby present. This is the perfect gender neutral gift, is unique, and really would match just about any baby theme. Assembly was easy and I get compliments all the time of it hanging in my little ones nursery. Don't really have a particular theme for our baby's room, but she is a huge animal fan. We have different odds and ends as far as decorating, but we've never had a mobile somehow. This is a beautiful piece! And it is turning out to be multi functional, because it the mobile pieces are set in a bigger piece of wood, and they pop out, my older kids have been using the bigger piece of wood that was left after we assembled the mobile as a stencil. The mobile itself is seven pieces-five animals and the two top cross pieces. Those slide together and using the provided string you attach the animals however you want to. I did find the included string a tiny bit hard to work with, it was just a little bit stiff, but no big deal. This is really a beautiful item to hang anywhere, not just in a baby's room We are really enjoying it, and the kids are bargaining to have it rotate bedrooms so they can all have a turn.
